FUSE SEARCH Integration

PubFactory doesn’t have a means to index full-text via API. They do, however, have two methods for retrieving metadata/taxonomy in a structured way:

  1. SRU. wikipedia.org/wiki/Search/Retrieve_via_URL
    https://<<your_org>>.pubfactory.com/sruhelp

  2. OAI-PMH. [That’s a mouthful!] openarchives.org/pmh/
    https://<<your_org>>.pubfactory.com/oaipmh

FUSE’s Approach

We tackle PubFactory twofold: A) we crawl the content to index full-text and B) we use one of the methods above to marry what we’ve crawled with any associated metadata (e.g. authors, dates, volume/issue, abstracts) that we then use as facets in your search.

Whitelist IP Range

PubFactory requires the whitelisting of FUSE’s IP range in order to authorize our crawler’s access to your content:

  • 54.208.151.205

  • 54.209.49.63

  • 52.70.169.233

  • 52.72.43.69

Landing Page

Finally, we need the landing page(s) of the content we’re indexing. Usually something like:

https://pubs.<<your_org>>.org/view/<<pub_name>>

If you have multiple publications with PubFactory, then you’ll have multiple landing pages to share. We’ll put facets in place that will allow users to focus their search on one or more of your publications.
